What is Student Verification?

Student Verification is required for children ages 19-23.

You must submit verification every Spring (Mar 1- Aug 31) and Fall (Sept 1- Feb 28) semesters.

If your child’s 19th birthday falls in between a semester you must submit for that semester for there to be no break in coverage.

Please note if your child turns 23 or stops attending school before their 23rd birthday they are eligible COBRA benefits for a fee. Please reach out to the DEA Health Benefits Office to inquire.

Divorce?

Upon a divorce your ex-spouse must be removed from the benefits immediately as they are no longer entitled to benefits. If they are not removed and there is usage after the date of divorce you will be responsible for any payment made on their behalf.

An ex-spouse is entitled to COBRA if interested.  This allows them to continue dental, optical and prescription benefits for a cost.

Do you cover Baby Formula?

No baby formula is considered a food supplement, and our Prescription Plan only covers medications. You can try through your medical carrier for coverage, or it would be out of your pocket.
